About the Project

As a part of Bowling Green State University's Honors College, students create an Honors Project. This project is designed to showcase the student's critical thinking and interdisciplinary knowledge, and is a "self-designed, capstone experience." Follow these links for more information about BGSU's Honors College and Honors Project.

The creation of these lesson plans and materials was created as one such Honors Project. Due to the limitations of time and resources, there is much that was left out from this project, but it is encouraged that those who desire to will add to the project. There is no cost to the use of these materials, but it is asked that credit will be given to BGSU, those who contributed to the project, and the resources and materials sourced for the creation of this project.

Use the menu to navigate through the site. The lesson plans, which walk teachers step by step on how to conduct these lessons, have all been compiled in the "Lesson Plans" page. Any materials necessary to the lesson plans can be found in the "Materials" page. Additional resources, including information on augmented reality and further ideas for including mental health education in the classroom, can be found on the "Resources" page. Finally, to view the bibliography for the entire project, go to the "Bibliography" page.

About the Creator:
Headshot closeup.png

I am currently a senior at Bowling Green State University and will earn my undergraduate degree May 2019 in Individualized Studies in Education with a focus on Educational Research. My interest in mental health comes from my own experiences with mental health conditions. My hope for this project is to provide young people with tools to seek mental health for themselves and to provide help to others struggling with mental health issues.

I have been involved with many activities in my time at Bowling Green State University, such as Campus Outreach, It's On Us, and the production team for the Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. I am excited to present my Honors Project to others, and have high hopes for its ability to help teach mental health literacy.
